Car problems

I have a 97 LeSabre with 73,000 miles runs great under the hood it looks brand new but it runs kind of funny when I accelerate. When driving over 35mph it will jerk pretty hard this does not happen all of the time but often enough especially on the freeway. When the car jerks if I take my foot of the gas then the car will go back to "normal". I had it looked at and a code came up saying misfire in cylander 2. I have changed the the fuel filter and still the problem is here. Any advice?

Re: Car problems

This "jerking" is more than likely secondary ignition misfire like a bad ignition wire, plug, or coil feeding the #2 cylinder. If the wires & plugs are original, replace the whole set with a good brand like; ACDELCO, Belden, or MSD wires & AC Iridium, or NGK Iridium plugs.

Re: Car problems

Agreed...

Plugs and wires going bad on this engine in the C and H body are very common...

Yank the engine cover off and have a look at the wires that run over the top of the intake plenum.... I'll bet there are a couple of places where you'll see a lot of Ozone... If you have one bad plug wire with this DIS system, that bad wire can cause issues for both cylinders on the coil...

I'd say replace the plugs and wires first...
