HID Write-up (Projectors)

Install Time: Roughly an hour depending on your experience.
Tools needed: Wire cutters, strippers, and crimpers. Electrical tape if you feel the need.

AF Discussion of HIDs and good HID info can be found HERE.

Kit

It's a really simple install.

Start off by removing the bulbs that are in your lights now and replace with the H.I.D. bulbs. There are 3 wires coming from the factory harness. Don't disconnect the wiring harness, otherwise you'll have to cut the harness off. From the harness there are 3 wires, a ground and 2 power wires (one for high and one for low beam). Green and black are the 2 you need. (positive and negative obviously). Connect those 2 to the 2 wires going into the HID box. Mine were logically backwards. Green went to black and black went to red. Strip and wire it, but don't crimp them yet. Instead, plug your bulbs into the box, connect all the plugs (color coordinated) and flip on your lights.

If the H.I.D. you just hooked up:

Does Not Come On - Go back to your wires you didn't crimp, flip the connections, and test again. The H.I.D. should come on at this point. If it doesn't, check your connections.

Comes On - turn your lights back off, crimp your wires, mount the box (keep vibrations to a minimum), and tuck your wires away from anything moving (i.e. pulleys). Next, repeat the above with your other light (you can skip not crimping the wires and testing because it will wire the same way as the first one you wired.)

Any questions, just ask.

Here are a few pics I managed to snap.

Just sex...

Driver Side Ballast Behind Computer

Passenger Side Ballast Crammed In The Small Ass Hole (only place I could find to stick it...ideas?)

Yes I'm aware my lenses are scratched all to hell. Looking for a clear "tear off" if you will to put over them before I wet sand them

80 on the interstate in heavy rain and could still see fine (camera doesn't do it justice)

Re: HID Write-up (Projectors)

You didn't have to make some special bracket to mount the bulbs to the projector housing lights? All the others I've seen, people have had to make something for mounting them... What was the brand you bought?

Re: HID Write-up (Projectors)

Mine used an H1 bulb and the fit is so snug that they really weren't moving. and the bracket that was originally on the projector still works with a little bending. it popped off a few times because it was so tight, but i think they're staying for now. and the rubber cap that goes over the back of the projector is a pretty tight fit too so it helps. ill get some pics and post them in a few.

i bought my kit off ebay from seller "zgperformance" (24.99 plus 49.99 shipping)

Re: HID Write-up (Projectors)

I love how shipping is 2x as much as the cost to buy them.

I know right?

I hit the remote start on my car about to head back to Greensboro and I heard a weird rattling noise (sounded like it was coming from right behind my header?) so I left the car at home and rode back with some friends so pics will have to wait til the weekend. Sorry guys, but I will do it.
