AWD Help

I bought a 93 Talon. The timing belt broke on the guy who owned it before me. thats why he sold it. its AWD, and i was dissasembling the engine and without thinking about it, i took of the front tires. they were up in the air, on jack stands, and they spun a few times with back tires on the ground. it wasnt until later when i read the sticker on the door that said it has a viscous coupling and limited slip diff. in the rear end, and how I CANT ROTATE ANY TIRES WHILE THEY ARE IN THE AIR. it was in gear at the time. did i do any damage to anything? and what do i have to do to get it set right?

Re: AWD Help

i guess i dont understand what you are asking... did you start the car? or move the tires by hand? (but w/o a timming belt, the motor wouldnt start) if you turned by hand, its fine! dont even worry about it, if you where dumb enough to crank the motor w/o a timming belt, the AWD is probably going to be added the the new Engine check list...

Re: AWD Help

I think you should be ok as long as you didn't move them a lot. That sticker is there more for towing.

Re: AWD Help

If I remember the sticker correctly (and I do ) it has to do with the rear wheels only. Basically, the warning is about the LSD in the rear end and how bad things will happen if you jack up one side while leaving the other on the ground, and then trying to start it.

By this, do you mean trying to start the vehicle moving? On a few occasions I've had the front end jacked up, and started the vehicle and nothing happened. But then again i never tried to put it in gear and go either. By side do you mean passenger and driver side, or front and back side? I'm just misunderstanding i think.

Re: AWD Help

You can't tow it with 2 wheels on the ground is what i think he meant. It makes no difference if you jack the front or rear up and start the car. Just don't move it around with 2 wheel on the ground.
