99 windstar throttle cable broken Help !
My wifes 99 windstar throttle cable needs repaired . The plastic piece that hooks to the carb is broken . My question is how does that affect the idle ? It will start and run but will not idle .Even when the cable is in place there is no tension on it . Is there some kind of sensor ? I hope this is not to confusing . Any help would be great !

Quote:
On the front of the throttle body is the throttle position sensor. It attaches to the shaft the throttle plate turns on and senses throttle position. If it were inop you should get a check engine light. See that it is plugged in and looks o.k. The more likely culprit for idle is the idle air control. It sits on top of the throttle body, is round and attaches with two bolts. It has an electrical connection on the end. If you remove it and clean its interior passages with throttle body cleaner you may re-gain a good idle. Good luck |
