This problem started about a month ago and is getting worse. When I pull out from a stop and the front end un-weights a little, I get a clunk and a feeling of something loose transfered through the steering wheel. I am also feeling every little ripple in the road under normal driving. The problem is more pronounced if I have the wheels turned hard to the left, or if I have my small trailer hooked up. I replaced a bad idler arm and put on some new shocks - no better. I can't find anything loose or broken under the front end. All steering components are tight, and I can't get any play out of the ball joints when I pry. I pryed on all the "A" arms to check for a bad bushing, they look ok too. Any help would be great!

Re: 2001 Astro AWD with front end clunk
check your motor mounts. have some one gun the engine and let off while you watch the engine. shouldn't move more than a quater inch movement.
