EGR light on 1987 MM Automatic

EGR light is on in the dash. What exactly does this mean. Is there a problem or do I just need to reset it? Any help is appreciated. 1987 MM Auto Trans.

Check the small egr pipe coming from the manifold...it is probably cracked..they didn't give it a good support bracket at the factory.
