And then there were three - Silver F1s with the HDF Kit...
I stumbled upon an interesting set of photos on the McLaren Automotive site that I don't recall seeing there before.
One of them was not new to me, but the other caused me to realize that the F1 I thought it was before is a different car altogether. Here are the images: ![]() ![]() So the second shot was the one I already had and I had previously decided it was a shot of what we believe to be chassis #059, the 'R66 MCL' F1. However, the new shot of the nose of the car shows a standard set of F1 headlights. 'R66 MCL' has always worn it's unique squinty-eyed headlights, even prior to the fitment of the High Downforce Kit, so I don't believe this is that car anymore. The other silver F1 with the High Downforce Kit we know about is chassis #023, formerly Paul Stewart's F1 and the one that was used in the Martin Brundle Supercars DVD. I had already determined that the photo I had wasn't that car because #023 doesn't have the wheel arch extensions over the front wheels which can barely be seen in the rear shot, and are quite clearly there in the new front view we have now. So I haven't got a clue which F1 this is, but I think it's pretty clear that this is a unique car we haven't previously identified. As far as I know, none of the other HDF Kitted cars we are aware of were ever painted silver so that rules them out and leaves us with a new 'unknown' F1. Lucky us... ![]() Anyone else know different or better? >8^) ER |

Re: And then there were three - Silver F1s with the HDF Kit...
^^ COOL - another mystery to be solved....
I agree, it doesnt look like it could be #023 due to those wheelarch extensions not being there in those shots......or, on the flipside, could it be #023 anyway, it may have in its life had the extensions over the front wheels but had them removed? (Jackie S may have liked them but son Paul S may not) If not what are the potential chassis #'s for this car?

I realize that in order to preserve the pictures they have to be linked through photobucket or such, but do you have a link to the site where the pictures came from?
I'm gonna say it's 059, and that it's just the angle/light playing tricks on the headlight look in the first picture. Don't forget #018, it's not the same silver, but silver nonetheless. |

I don't think this is #023 unless that car has had a nose change. The arch extensions don't really appear to be add-ons. It looks to me more like they would be molded in to the nose piece from the start. Sauc3 - the headlamp lenses on what we believe is #059 are significantly different when viewed at a similar angle: ![]() The pics can be found at the bottom of the Competitions page in the Community section on the McLaren Automotive site: http://www.mclarenautomotive.com/com...mpetitions.php >8^) ER |

Re: And then there were three - Silver F1s with the HDF Kit...
the rear shot does look like #059, check this out from redheaded.com of it blasting through London
![]() looks just like your 2nd shot ![]() I cant remember seeing shots of #023 without the standard road wheels, like in this pic ![]() however I do have pics of what could be #059 (unfortunately none of the front) in the Tech Centre - I have these in my 'unassigned' folder at the mo ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: And then there were three - Silver F1s with the HDF Kit...
Depending on which HDF kit you get , you get new front fenders (wings as they call it in the UK) which would be the entire front shell.
