Dripping Fluid....on outside of Tranny
Now i know that 3.1 Grand Prix engines have bad intake gaskets and leak alot. But there is this fluid that is redish on the lower part of my transmission, It never goes away, so im guessing its a constant drip. Nothing is overheating, there is no discoloring in the oil, the oil is fine, cuase i just changed it. is it just the intake gasket i should get replaced. Me and My grand father are going to do it in the spring, cause his 3.1 Buick Century is dripping the same color liquad in the same spot, also whats the Liquad, coolent??

Re: Dripping Fluid....on outside of Tranny
If it is leaking by your tranny it may be transmission fluid. Trans fluid is also red. In what area of the trans is it leaking?

Re: Dripping Fluid....on outside of Tranny
Some people confuse dexcool with tranny fuild because they both are reddish in color. If the fuild is on top of the trans by the air filter its probably dexcool.

Re: Dripping Fluid....on outside of Tranny
Ya I change my answer. It is probably DexCool.
This might sound dumb but check out the lines running out of the DexCool tank and see if they are not dry rotted. |
