2000 Sunfire electrical

My daughters 2000 Sunfire clicks three or four times when it is put into reverse and then the service engine light comes on. Not the "check" engine light. Her low beam headlights work fine but the high beams won't work at all. Now she noticed that the Daytime running lights won't work. The fuses are fine and also the relay. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: 2000 Sunfire electrical

I looked up the wiring diagram on your vehicle. The headlamp switch controls the ground to the headlamps. The pink wire to the headlamps is the ground circuit. You can turn on the headlamps, in the high beam position, use a testlite on the pink wire. Let us know what it shows. I can't tell you the switch is faulty without doing some testing. There is input on that circuit to the BCM, not sure what that is about, it might just be a monitored circuit.

The BCM does control the DRL relay, but, I wouldn't worry about that, now.

Some of the national brand auto-stores will read OBD11 codes for you, free of charge. You might check for codes.

Re: 2000 Sunfire electrical

check the wiring harness in behind headlights ,start with left one .wiring connections go bad in there .you`ll have to peel back the "duct tape" type covering to look. work your way across to right if need be .also check under battery box for possible corrosion. service light may be related
