1997 windstar, hesitation tranny bump

I own a 1997 windstar. after driving aproximatly 50 miles,, it would begin to feel like i was running over an ocasional bump or like the vehicle lost power for just a second. After coming to a red light i could hear a thumping sound like someone was stomping on the floor. the rpms were falling down and back up. felt like it was going to stall but it didnt. no check engine lights. Felt almost like it was missing on 1 cylinder but it also seemed like the transmission was kicking in and out of gear while stopped at a red light. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

ok,, theres been a change,, its nothing in the transmission. I drove the van about 40 miles today, mostly interstate, and it began bucking again. after i got off the interstate, i put the van in neutral and it was still thumping. it feels like its missing but its more pronounced. definatly coming from the engine and not the tranny. after i pulled home it had stopped. at hight speeds it seems to go away or at least be not as noticable.

I was having the same problem for a long time ago, that drives me crazy and make me change to many pieces in my van, sparks, cables, iac valve, transsmision sensors, etc. it was a really waste of time and money, finally the problem was on the HOT PACK, yes the hot pack see my post in this forum.
