I have a 1994 740il that the starter turns over OK but the engine starts slowly after it has been sitting for a while (hot or cold). I have been told it could be a fuel pressure regulator or backflow valve in the fuel pump that is allowing the fuel pressure to leak down and thus has to build up after sitting. Runs well after it starts.
Any ideas on isolating the problem. Any suggestions appreciated. I am fairly technically proficient, just no experience with this problem |

Re: Hard Starting 740il
I have had the same issue, and as yet have not found the solution. Definitely seems to be something with the fuel delivery though. I will continue to investigate and advise if I come across anything. The biggest frustration is that I believe this may be resolved only through a proce$$ of elimination approach... Cheers
