New Member Old New car 88 325is

Hi all, I'm a new member to this forum and new to owning a BMW. I purchase a 1988 325is w/ 99,500 miles from an auction at CarMax. I have a few questions:

1. I do not have the code for the radio -- is there any way to get it?
2. The fuse box cover does not show (display) what the fuse are for - is there any way to download that information? I bought a after market manual, but it did state what fuse in what location did what.
3. The car came with just one key, will I have to get the dealer to make me a second key?

thanks for any answers to any and all questions

the code for the radio is in the book that accompanies the manual, if you do not have i dont think it is easy to get. if you make a mistake you might as well toss the radio any way. u might want to replace it in any case since it is only a tape deck.

i believe i read that keys can only be made by the dealer but i am sure someone somewhere can make one. if you do use a dealer i believe you must have the original with some code of some sort. i am not sure.

radio

I have an 86 352es. I was told the dealer can get the rodio code as long as you have proof you are the owner. As for the original manual, check the wrecking yards. If anyone is like me they have everything in the car. It comes in a plastic folder along with some other stuff. It does tell you all about the fuses and which one is which. Now for the keys, hummm, I think the other writer is correct, you may only be able to get that from the dealer. Just for your info, I've had my bmw for 12 years and it has 240,120 miles. Not without a couple water pumps and two clutches......oh yea, and a new computer. Other than the computer problem the car is awesome. Looking for a 2003 325ci in a few weeks. Good luck and enjoy your car. treat it right and it will do you well.
