2000 X 5speed. After i drive it for a while, when i shift from 3rd into forth i sometimes get a slight grinding. Is my clutch going out? it doesn't grind all the time, and if i shift slow it wont grind at all
I am stumped. Also it has 110,000 miles on it. thanks for any thoughts |

Re: grinding when shifting
Synchro's in your transmission might be going out. You could drain the tranny oil and see if any teeth come out. If so, get out your pocketbook it's gonna hurt.

Re: grinding when shifting
Does sound like a synchro problem, perhaps nothing more than a fresh change of the oil in the transmission might clear up. Make sure it's GL4 ONLY, or a good low-sulfur GL5 synthetic like Redline or Amsoil.

So I hade the fluids changed on Wed. So far so good. No teeth found, just some very Very fine metal shavings. I think that might be normal on a truck with 110,000 miles. Also changed the fuel filter, hope that gets me better gas mileage. I think it was the original.
