Throttle body and PCM
Ok two questions. What is the purpose of the honeycomb screen in the T.body and is it needed.
Does the PCM need a steady flow of air? Is that why it was placed in the airbox. |

Re: Throttle body and PCM
The throttle body screen helps smooth and direct airflow, especially to the MAF sensor. You can operate without one but some have complained of getting a MAF sensor error code and SES light or an abnormal idle.
A lot of us do not have the PCM in the airbox as a result of running a CAI/FWI so I really don't believe it was put in the airbox for that specific reason.

Re: Throttle body and PCM
Ok I was wondering, I pulled out the airbox and intake hose to start building my ramair system and took out the screen to clean it, I was wondering if it affected the airflow or not.
The pcm it just seemed weird to me to have it in the airbox unless there was a heat issue. Any idea why GM did that? |
