I need to know how I can identify which fuel pump I have in my 2000 Blazer. They seem to run in 2 part #'s as in "SGK" or "TCH". do I have to drop the tank to actually figure it out or can I track the harness elsewhere.
Also When I took the Blazer to the dealer today they said that the pump is "a Delco specific part" and wanted me to pay upwards of $600 for it. How full of crap is this guy or am I really that screwed? B.T.W.~ Its a 2000 2 door 4WD if that makes any big difference. Thank you in advance for your time.

Re: Need help identifing Fuel pump
Either Napaonline.com or Autozone.com will get you the right number.
Make sure you fill out the profile correctly for your truck - 2 door or 4 door. The reason for 2 p/n's is dependant upon two different models, 2 door or 4 door. The 4 door tank is narrower and taller than the flater 2 door tank. (I"ve been thru this, I got the wrong part and crammed a 4 door pump into a 2 door tank, it worked OK, but it was hard to compress the assembly, and the level sensor didn't work correctly- the idiot at the parts store thought an S10 pick-up was the same as a Blazer - they aren't)

Holy cow. I got a fuel pump for my 95 blazer 4wd for $140 cdn including the new fuel filter and taxes. It's around $130 cdn for the sending unit. Just did this last week. (it wasn't a delco part) You'll find a few Dealers and supliers who just say they're ... Delco Specific... there are other aftermarket parts, it's buyer beware though. Mentioned throughout this forum, there are good brands, and bad brands, to be safe always use the 'manufacturers suggested brands' Went to the parts supplier, gave them the model, and vin number and in about 2mins they found the replacement parts. ~Xpc |

Re: Need help identifing Fuel pump
To make double sure you are getting the right one when you drop tha tank the fuel pump module will have the code on it if original pump.
Gm parts department can run the vin no and usually come up with the right one. MT

Re: Need help identifing Fuel pump
I did the AutoZone thing too. I bought a Bosch brand pump for my 93 2wd 4Door. It cost Approx. $100. U.S. including the filter sock and tax over the counter. The pump works fine, but the gaskets were the wrong size. See my thread on Bad Gas Tank Gaskets. Go to your local GM Dealership and buy the GM gas tank gasket for $10. U.S. The dealer that told you it is a Delco specific part is wrong. There are aftermarket pumps available and work great.

Unfortunatley for the original poster (who has a '00 Blazer), he'll have to settle for a $300.00+ USD part (same as my '97 pump assembly), because these are the units with the plastic case surrounding the pump to keep it always in about a quart of gas for cooling) and they have 2 socks and a level sensor attached. ($320 at Napa, $350 at AZ for the Delco part, $500.00 at a dealer). The Napa part is a Carter pump, I've had mine for a year now without a problem. No Bosch parts for the '97s to '01s that I know of. The Carter assembly came with a gasket equal to the GM unit I got with a previous level sensor kit, no problems there either.

Try WWW.GMPartsdirect.com They're pretty much 1/2 price of the dealers.
