Lightbulb Adding Turbo to 98 VW Beetle

I have a 98 Beetle non turbo manual transmission.

Drove a turbo beetle....loved it...Now I want a turbo on mine.

Can it be done? Any info about this anywhere?

I have been searching the Internet for days....no luck...

can it be done? Is it a simple process of buying a turbo and having it installed?

Or...do I have to basically overhaul the engine replacing with a 98 turbo model?

Thanks in advance...

Re: Adding Turbo to 98 VW Beetle

The turbo model has a 1800cc engine whilst yours is 2000cc so the only way would be to swap motors...but that would also mean all the electrics (ECU etc) plus the gearbox/clutch. Too much hassle and $$$ that you would never get back. No kits are listed as available so the only alternative is be happy with what you've got or start saving.

Re: Adding Turbo to 98 VW Beetle

apr makes a turbo kit for the 2.0 aeg engine.

You can also go with a neuspeed supercharger (much easier to install)

all in all its better to just buy a 1.8t beetle. they come turbo from the factory and are meant for turbo.
