Mobil 1

I'm using the Mobil 1 oil filter with Mobil 1 5w30 oil... (no surprise) it hasn't made any noticeable difference in performance

As long as you don't use a FRAM filter, they're generally equal. FRAM's are just known to be cheap and of lesser quality than other filters.

Another note about FRAM filters...

Just another note about FRAM's...
On my oil change prior to switching to synthetic, I was in a hurry and let a shop do Pennsoil 5w30 with a Pennsoil filter (read: Fram)... When I drained that oil out, it was darker, nastier, and sludgier than ANY oil change I have done on my vehicles before (including my motorcycle, which uses sludge oil to begin with!). I know the Pennsoil oil isn't the world's greatest, but it's DEFINITELY not like that when it goes in. My only explaination (since the engine purrs perfectly) is that the oil filter was garbage. I also lost an entire quart of oil between changes that time (4000 miles, no racing)! In the 700 miles I've run since I put in the Mobil 1 oil and filter, I haven't lost any oil and it's still a light golden color. My trip to Tennessee this weekend will be the final test, but I expect it to do extremely well.

Two friends with late 90's Camaros (one v6, one LT4) have had the exact same experience with Pennsoil/Fram filters. Total sludge. Using mid-range $5 Wix filters lead to much better oil and less oil lost on their next change.
