Replacement of self-leveling rear shocks
Any problem with replacing auto-leveling rear shocks with standard monroe struts? Cost of new shocks and relay switch (compressor is OK) seems prohibitive especially given that I don't pull a boat or trailer and rarely have anything in the trunk

Re: Replacement of self-leveling rear shocks
Problem here is the spring rate is different with factory leveling system, the rear will sit to low with std struts.

Re: Replacement of self-leveling rear shocks
Like Max said, if you replace just the struts with non-air assist, your car will sag in the rear, like a wet diper on a two year old!
You have several options; 1) Replace the air struts & get a switch assembly from a bone yard. 2) Replace the air struts and install a manual fill kit for $5.00. 3) Replace the struts with non-air assist and the springs from a Lesabre without ALC, from a bone yard. 4) Purchase a new set of springs from the dealer, (bad idea)!
