restoration of my 66 Mustang

Hello All
Wednesday, 8th February (after 17 years of possesing the car) I started the restoration of my Mustang.
Since the mechanical parts are well, the process will be on the body parts.
All panels, fenders, doors, hood, trunk and chrome parts will be replaced by new parts imported from the USA. Everything ells will be treated and fixed.
Although Israel is a subtropical humid country there is minor rust.
I hope to finish everything by April.

That is a very beautiful car. Glad to see that you and the people before you have taken good care of it. It's very impressive to me to see a classic mustang like that in such good shape. Kinda rare where I live. Good luck and I hope to see more pics in the future.

Sweet. 1966 was my favorite year of the early stangs. Although I would prefer a fastback, the coupes are easier to find.

Why was the frame member in the front cut out? Excessive rust?

....now all you need to do is chop the top and do a conversion to a convertible...!

Yes...much rust and remains from a severe accident from some 30 years ago.
According to the Israeli Law you are not alowed to convert a car to convertible because of safety implications.

That's interesting.
Is it prohibited because convertibles are felt to be unsafe because of rollover?
Or maybe the authorities think the "conversion" is the problem....in other words, do they think the removal of the hard top will result in loss of structural integrity, causing the vehicle to become unsafe?
Or is it something else entirely?
