New EPA MPG ratings?

I saw on the news the other day that the EPA is going to change the formula it uses to measure new car MPG to more accurately reflect the actual MPG. Which seems like a good idea, but I wonder if they are taking it too far.

In the report they used a Silverado as an example of how the MPG ratings will change. With the current system, they rate the silverado at 18 MPG, but with the new system they will rate it at 13.7 MPG. To me that seems way to low and much lower than what i get in my truck. According to the pole in this forum ( http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=335161 ) ~85% of the silverado drivers that answered the forum got better than 14 MPG, 67% got better than 16 MPG.

I was wondering if anyone else thought this new rating was too low? I mean I do not know anyone who drives a silverado and gets 14 MPG or less, unless they do racing or something.
