Which repair manual to buy?

Hi. I have a Chilton repair manual for my Chevy 91 1/2ton v6... I am not very pleased with it so far(The manual, I love my truck). Anyone have recommendations for a better repair manual? Thanks in advance,
Jim

Re: Which repair manual to buy?

I have the factory service manuals for all of my vehicles. I feel that they have paid for themselves many times over.

Sometimes you can find used ones on ebay.

www.helminc.com for new ones.

I agree, if you can get a factory repair manual, they are the best, but I do like Haynes, better than chilton, for aftermarket.

I agree, a factory manual or in these days a factory cd rom is best as I have all Haynes manuals and they are good but just dont go indepth enough.

Yea I have had a susciption to Alldata since 2000, it is basically exact pages from the factory service manuals but in an easy to find format. no index, the table of contents are easier to navigate.

Re: Which repair manual to buy?

Haynes = Chilton, Chilton = Haynes. Chiltons are made by Haynes now.

Re: Which repair manual to buy?

So help me.....
I am running into a wall when it comes to finding a shop manual for my dad's truck.

He has a 1995 Chevy Silverado 3500 diesel.

I would LOVE to find a factory repair manual but after all the searching that I have done, I would settle for just a good manual at this point.

My dad is in his 70's and has a morbid fear of computers.
He told me that he looked around town but was unable to find a manual on his truck.
I figured it would be easy to find one online but either I am missing a huge piece of the puzzle or these manuals are more rare than diamonds.

Can anybody point me to a manual for this truck? I would really appreciate it.

Re: Which repair manual to buy?

I saw a deal on the Auto Zone site the other day I have not checked it out yet but it is www.alldatadiy.com it costs like $25 a year then $15 a year after that to renew or to add other cars, might be worth checking out I think I read you get free up dates also.
