Unhappy

1996 safari wont start

changed intake gasket now van wont start so i set timing,changed plugs,
has spark and gas just pops when trying to start
help please

if you pulled the distributor are you sure you didn 't put it in 306 degrees off so it is trying to fire on the exhaust stroke
