1988 Mustang Have To Ram Her Into Gear
My transmission is messed i go to put it in first and i have to ram her in... second is not so good and third is fine. so .I was told by two different people that i need a clutch adjustment (1988 are self adjusting) by lifting the pedal up till she clicks and i did that and now its even worse. so i think its too tight and i dont think theres a way to loosen it if anyone knows what the prob is with my rustang please let me know ( i also have a hole in my bellhousing) just a small one though if it changes anything... leave one.

The clutch may need to be adjusted, but I'd bet more that something broke in the clutch. I just replaced the clutch in my brother's Ranger because the pressure plate broke and one of the springs popped out and got wedged into the pressure plate. When that happened, it wouldn't allow the clutch disc to freewheel when disengaged, causing it to be hard to put in gear and hard to shift. Also it did make a little scraping noise when the clutch pedal was pushed in, the engine was running, the truck was not moving and the trans was in 1st gear. Hope this helps.
