Wind noise-Front doors only-Problem ID'd-Need Fix

My wind noise problem is very specific here. Only with a cross wind and when the temperture is colder, unless the cross wind is very high. I have the most annoying air leakage noise at the top of the two front doors. Right where the horizontal part of the door frame curves downward. With a strong hand, the noise is eliminated by squeezing the door frame to the cab. I've seen this problem brought up in previous post, but with no solution.

I believe the rubber is still good because I had this problem since the truck was new. Never got fixed under warrenty because I "could not duplicate problem" when I took in. (No wind, not cold)

My girl in the passenger seat is about to leave me if I don't fix. What's cheaper a new girl or several expensive trips to the (st)dealer?

2000 Siverado Ext 3dr.

Also, the 3rd don't doesnt like to shut in cold weather----anybody.

For the front doors i would check to make sure the rubber seal is in place , i know on my truck on the drivers side only it is loose and sometimes slips down a bit and that is when i get wind noise. This was an issue on a fair amount of newer trucks and they fixed it by just using silicone or weather strip adhesive to glue it back in place. As for the rear door, i know on my truck it had both of the latch mechanisims replaced on warrenty before i owned the truck because of cold weather close issues, not sure if maybe simple adjusting it would help or not.

If you find a fix let me know. Mine also does it now that temps have fallen. Didn't do it before.

Check the body gap at the top though. If it is wide in that area, you can open the door, brace your knee on the inside of the door, and give the upper corner of the door frame a pull inward. Start out soft and recheck, but chances are it will take a little effort.

You need to treat the rubber seals with some sort of silicon based spray (or wipe on) per GM specs. This keeps the rubber soft and supple. A hard rubber gasket will not seal wind noise. And old trick you can do (but may void warranty) and I do not accept any responsibility is this:

Take a little bit of brake fluid (clean) on to a rag. Wipe the rubber seals down with it. and wipe off any excess. Then use another rag with some silicon to ttreat the rubber. This will "swell" up the rubber gaskets and treat them.

Your door may need to be adjusted as well. You can adjust the door striker bolt on door jamb to make the door slam "tighter" by moveing striker "in" just a tick or two.

These are just a couple of "fixes" that I thought of.

Take a dollar bill and shut the door on it and pull it around the door jam. where it is loose is where the air is comming in from. They make a puddy that goes behind the weather stripping to close up the gap.

Anyone know where I can get my hands on this puddy. My truck gets wind noise out of both doors and its annoying as hell.

You could go with a "cheap" new girl or even cheaper, a new truck!! All joking aside, I have this same problem on the passenger side 3rd door of my truck. It's the same thing you have talked about, cross winds and cold air. But, I only notice it if the wind is really heavy. The putty thing sounds like an interesting fix.

All I did was pull the rubber molding down and bend the metal runner the molding is slid onto. Bend it towards the door just a little. I bent about 3-4" section. Just bend a little at a time, you can adjust more or less. But the real problem is the rubber is just old and needs to be replaced.

I had some decent wind noise when I first got the truck and they replaced em under warranty. It didnt seem to help very much, but maybe I will just buy em and glue them up there. Any ideas on a place to order them for a deal?
