Question 1996 S10 chevy p/u

i am a mother of a 16 yr. old . I am in the middle of a divorce. I could sure use some help in getting this truck back on the road for my son. He's driving me crazy. Father won't help. Everyone that has looked at it says fuel pump. 96 fuel pumps are very costly. Is there any place to get after market fuel pumps? I feel 260.00 is outrageous. Could it possibly be inlined for cheaper price? Frustrated mom needs help!!!

Welcome to the board J_M

Just thought that I would let you know, most fuel pumps burn out because most people don't change their fuel filters often enough.
Never replace the fuel pump without replacing the fuel filter, or you risk the chance of burning it out right away.

The job will take your son about a 1/2 day, and there are 2 ways to do it.
Lift the box off, or take the fuel tank off.
Most people prefer taking the box off.
