Cool

Na, in all seriousness, 98% of the time the problem is in the wiring to the sensor. The sensors are nothing more than a peizo, they themselves rarely fail because they're isn't anything about them that really can fail.

Replace the wiring & connectors.

Thanks and that's what I''ll try first but I have been aroud the bush on this one trying to diagnose

1) a check light that comes on when the car warms up.
2) show up as a code 52 a
3)cars does not idle properly.
4) poor gas milage 20 mpg

Would bad knock sensor wiring give above symptoms
Would a bad knock sensor.
Hagman
I have been to 8 mechanics, hours surfing the forum and net $200 worth of parts$200 worth of diagnosis to get to this point. I am ready to scrap this car which has agreat compression and everything else works great.

Thanks
Hagman

Re: knock sensor link

Put everything together...
ECU is detecting: 1) Fault in the knock sensor, 2) Severe knocking.
Obviously it will run rich & retard ignition timing as a result of that.

Take the terminal off & check that there is no continuity between the knock sensor's terminal & the body of the knock sensor. If not, it should be fine - wiring/connection is a problem somewhere.
