I hate all honda owners, or almost all...
So this guy down the street from me has a 95 integra that he thinks is super fast. It has a B18B block (nothing special) and a VTEC head (dont all honda have vtec anyways?). He says that right now it is in the low 15 or high 14 with just motor and he has a DC header...i call BS right there, and he says "In a few weeks im getting a B16 tranny which will put me in the low 13's with all motor"....wtf has this world come to. There is noway in hell his naturally aspirated 1.8l will be in the low 13's with a new tranny from a lower car. I try to argue with him but he keeps telling me its true, so i tell him to go clock his car at the track but he says he doesnt have the time...
Sorry, but i needed to vent, what should i say to this guy to set him straight?

integra LS's dont come with VTEC, so they probably dont have a VTEC head, but a lot of people try to put a VTEC head on , so its like a VTEC motor but it never runs like a true VTEC motor, i think the GSR motor is a b18c and they run like a 15.1 stock, so basically that guy is retarted...i'm sure the transmission is better but what is the point in swapping it anyways?

he'll probably run like a 15.5 maybe..duno if he has lsd, if he does maybe lower, but no way in hell a 13

Ok, lemme break it down for you. I do know a little about hondas. What he has is an ls-vtec. It's an ls block with a vtec head from from either a civic si or integra gsr (more than likely not a jdm head or a type r head). The only advantage really over, let's say, a gsr motor, is that the ls block will provide more torque. The downside to this is that I've heard it's a bitch to tune. But, back to the main point. My brother had a 95 gsr that ran 14.6 at 94 with no lsd. Mods done were civic type r pistons (bumped compression up to 12:1), clutch, flywheel, hondata ecu, and tires. Now... the B16, or civic si, tranny has shorter gears for acceleration. There's why he wants that tranny. High 14's maybe... 13's...
Show him my post. That little bitch is full of shit. It's people like him that give Honda owners a bad name. I used to drive a Honda. I wish I still had it. Not over the 240, but my Prelude was still fun to drive.

well his only mods are the hybrid engine thing and a header...i bet hes doing a 15.5 or higher now.. I went to go drive it but when we went to go start the car, he has a bad o ring on his 4th injector and its squirting oil everywhere. I told him we should just run up to the parts store and see if they have one but he said he doesnt trust me to fix it, so hes taking it into the shop for an o-ring...

well, the B16 tranny, although it doesnt have LSD, it has way shorter gears than the LS.
thats wierd though, it seems like a lot of people cant build good honda's. A couple of my friends are badasses when it comes to honda's. Like a stock B16 w/Type R Cams, and Type R tranny running a 14.2 in a crx, then I have another friend with a TURBO B16 in a CRX, and he runs a 14.5 and thinks its fast. It's just messed up how that can happen, same car, same motor, one has cams and a tranny, the other has a turbo, and the one with the cams is .3 quicker in the quarter. |
