In Progress - Ferrari 575 Maranello

I've started a 3rd project car recently, the Fujimi 575M Maranello.

So far I've corrected a few of the bodys innaccuracys. I added the missing panel lines near the headlights and A-pillars. I also opened the hood and side vents up a bit.

I don't usually build red Ferraris, but I have painted the body Cobra Colors Rosso Barchetta. It's a slightly darker red than the typical Ferrari re-sale red.

The interior will be a creme/tan/black combination.

After the first couple coats the paint was pretty orange peely. So I let that dry for a couple hours and lightly wet sanded the whole car smooth, and reprayed another coat. The finish now is smooth, and ready for clear.

A real 550 in Rosso Barchetta

That color suits the car perfectly. Can't wait to see this one finished.

Your pic of the Barchetta makes me hope Fujimi does that version too.

My friend took delivery of his 1:1 Grigio Silverstone Superamerica yesterday...another version I hope we see a kit of.

Very nice start! A dark red suits this classy car better than rosso Corsa I think.

I just received my Fujimi kit yesterday from HLJ, and will paint it Rosso Fiorano metallic.

The other ACME guys were quicker than me with this car. Blue, yellow, green, and metallic red were spoken for. They stuck me with red, pink, or purple.

Every year we choose 1 newly released model, and all build our version of it, and display them at our annual show together. This year we chose the Maranello. I hope I get mine done by November 12th..

MustangMuscle - Rosso Fiorano will look awesome on this car. Good luck.

Thanks for looking and for the comments guys!

Nice color, I like it, and could you detail a little bit more which panel lines did you correct? I'm starting mine and this info will be useful.

Thanks, and very nice so far.
I'll be looking for more

Cheers!

Matt, about that bumper attached with tape thing. I forgot to tell you to be careful when placing tape on the insides of the front fenders - some of that are will be visible even with headlights installed (at least on the 550) and needs to be body colour.

The colour looks awesome!

When he bought his 2 kits he also picked up 7 more kits for ACME members. I doubt he'll be displaying his GT's all by his lonesome.

Since seeing his built up in person, I will be purchasing one for sure.

Re: In Progress - Ferrari 575 Maranello

Thanks for the comments guys.

mike united - I haven't really decided on wheels yet. I do like the stock rims, but have lots of others to choose from.

blueboost - I polished this with micromesh polishing cloths, i started with 4000, and progressed to 6000, and 8000, then finished by rubbing it out with Meguiers Scratch X.

Thanks for looking.
