Sun Sensor

I have a 96 LHS...Just had compressor and evap core or coil replace, pressure is good on hi and low... In the mornings and nights the air freezes me. In the heat of the day, the air hardly cools. The sun sensor, located on the dash... if it is out, is that what it would do. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Sun Sensor

I'm assuming your car has ATC? (Automatic Temperature Control) The sensor on the Dash (where the Red LED lights when the anti-theft alarm is activated) I can't say as if that is the sun sensor or not but it's possible, I just replaced that unit my 94 and now my Automatic Headlights work like they should. I really can't say if that is tied in with the ATC or not because my A/C is currently discharged so the car does not get cold inside at all.

One thing you can try is check the Ambient Temperature sensor on the dash, it is located behind the "CHRYSLER" emblem on the passenger side dash face and it measures the air temperature inside the car and adjusts the ATC accordingly, there is a tiny fan in there that moves the air through vent openings behind the emblem, make sure those vents are not clogged up and preventing air from passing through, you can also test the fan on the sensor by placing a small section of tissue large enough to cover the emblem and the openings over it with the vehicle running and the ATC on and if the tissue sticks to the emblem then the fan is working, if not then the sensor assembly behind that panel needs replaced which may also cure your problem.
