I just purchased a 1995 Grand Am SE, 4cyl. DOHC (16 VALVE). What is the OEM spark plugs and wires for this vehicle? Plus what do you all recommend on the oil filter and air filter.....and the oil too? What weight and brand? The car has 149,094 miles. Never recieved a book with the vehicle. I do know there is one recall on the ignition switch I do believe, or something to do with the switch. Has a manual trans. 5-speed.
Wants to do a major tune-up on this vehicle, any ideas folks? |

Re: tune-up
Well, wires are 8mm, don't know OEM part for the plugs. Any good brand oil filter will do, most places have look-up books to match different brand part numbers to OEM, such as K-Mart, Wal-Mart, etc. They usally also list the OEM AC/Delco parts for most all of what you are looking for.

Re: tune-up
The Quad4's don't have spark plug wires they only have spark plug boots and they last long time but are worth replacing when you do a tune-up because they aren't too expensive. For air and oil filters I typically use Fram, for plugs I usually go with AC Delco. As for oil I use 5w30, mobil or quaker state brand.

I typically use Fram oil filters, Bosch 4x platinum plugs (car might run a little warmer, mine does), Castrol Syntec full synthetic oil 20w50 in the summer as I drive alot and it gets hot after a while, and 5w30 in the winter as it gets cold here, K&N air filter.
