Oil Pressure Sensor

I notice I have a broken connector at what I believe to be the oil pressure sensor. It's a green connector and the metal connection broke. Only thing is, my oil pressure gauge still functions, but I could've sworn it was the sensor. It's right above the driver-side axle, I must've broke it the last time I dropped the tranny. Could it be a knock sensor? or does it have no function and I never really needed it in the first place (ha)?

Re: Oil Pressure Sensor

tranny is on the passenger side. so i don't think you could of broken a driver side connector while dropping the tranny, but i dunno.

i think only the first gens (91-93) had knock sensors. i think talskinyguy said the oil sensor is where you described--just above the driver's side axle.

heck, if your oil sensor still works then why replace it? you might try to tape it up to protect it from further damage.

if you wanna see what it is, then remove it, start the car, and see if you can observe a warning light, CEL, or something different.

On some cars the oil pressure gauge and the idiot light use seperate sending units. If your gauge still works, check to see if the low oil pressure light is working.

Yeah, I think one is for the light. Both of mine are disconnected I think.

Well when you drop the tranny you have to remove the axles which means removing the carrier bearing, and when you use a ratchet you end up hitting the sensor. It probably is the low pressure sensor. I can't tape it up, it's a metal connector that broke in half, i'd have to cut the wire and solder in a new connector. Which would be a pain since there's not really any angle I can get in to it at. I'm just hoping/wondering that it's not something that the ecu needs for the car to run right, cuz it won't hold idle and nothing else has changed.
