Need help with my 94 grand am

I just got a 94 Grand AM and when I test drove it the lights and everything worked. But to get them all to work the steering wheel had to be all the way up. well I got it home and I tilted the wheel so I could see over it and drive comfortably, now the brake lights dont work. The hazards and turning signals work but the brake lights dont. I talked to the Pontiac customer service rep and they said theres and active recall and the ignition switch. could the ignition switch be the reason for my brake lights not working or is there somthing else? I know another reason could be the brake light switch but that doesnt seem to make sense if they worked one day and not the next all because of the way the wheel is tilted. PLEASE HELP!!

This is kind of a stupid question, but have you check the fuse?

its gotta be something in the wiring if the wheel has to be tilted a certain way.

Re: Need help with my 94 grand am

could the ignition switch cause that? because theres a recall on that part on my car. im taking it in tomarrow morn to have it replaced at the dealership
i figured that maybe if the ignition switch was defective it might cause a short. i wanted to know if my hypothesis was correct and see if anyone else who knows more about vehicles had any suggestions or advice.

Re: Need help with my 94 grand am

well, according to a schematic I have, the brake switch wires [one of them, only, hot in run] is connected to the cruise control switch off the multi-function lever.

So it seems very likely that there is a short or loose connect in the lever that shows when the wheel is moved as you describe.
