Wink I know it sounds mad but........

............is it possible to recast an ENTIRE body shell in resin? I got an old C Class DTM D2 version from a friend but the WHOLE body is smashed (he droped a paint can on it LMAO!) So i have the SONAX C Class in mint condition and wanted to recast a second body for the D2 car. Can it be done? Has anyone done this? If so How?
Cheers Guys.

Re: I know it sounds mad but........

Sure it can be done, although I've never tried it. Something that large and thin would be very tricky to do. Only a very experienced reisn caster could sucessfully attemp it. Check the how to repository for info on resin casting.

Re: I know it sounds mad but........

Sure, you can. But the cost (especially the silicone) to cast an entire body will be more expensive than a new kit.

Re: I know it sounds mad but........

^ Excellent point. Resin is also more brittle and difficult to work with compared to plastic. Better to save your sanity and buy another kit, or even just the body.

Re: I know it sounds mad but........

Its possible. I was actually talking about it with an expert resin caster in our club. He says its fairly easy if you plan it out, just expensive as hell. You'll spend $60-$80USD on RTV.

I think there are sevreal aftermarket resincasters who will do it for you( if there is time). Have a talk withThe Modelhaus for example.
