Re: McLaren F1 GTR in Bahrain

Looks like 07R got sold. Well spotted. Funny how they think it's an LM. If it gets a couple of outings on the F1 track, it's not going to look so shiny and pristine much longer.

Incidentally, there is at least one Koenigsegg in the Middle East--in Dubai.

I'm not convinced it's 07R, unless a new nosepiece was fitted. I have often suspected there is a third GTR (not 07R or 11R) that has been refitted to look like an LM and I believe this is that GTR. There are only a few possiblities for the chassis number, but I don't think it can be accurately narrowed down at this point.

After further review, it's not the third GTR either as that car is almost certainly a 1996 model. This appears to be a 1995-spec GTR, that is not 07R that has been fitted to look like an LM. That means they've done this 4 times now.

Aren't their any F1 GTR owners out there that want to keep their car looking original???

Hello,

this is excellent Gustav ! Are you sure that the car is located in Duabi and not just on the track ? Could it be associated with Bin Sulayem ?

And I agree with Erik, it's not 07R because of screw upside of the lip.

Ciao
Phil

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest this could be another reincarnation of GTR #04R. It started life as a '95 Gulf GTR but had a bad crash and was replaced by #08R. Then we believe that it eventually became the West-Adrenaline program GTR. A few years back when tvrfreak paid a visit to the factory it was sitting in the corner collecting dust still wearing that "West" livery.

There's a lot of visual similarities between this car and that one. I'm certainly not 'certain' by any means, but it wouldn't surprise me if I was correct.

Re: McLaren F1 GTR in Bahrain

If somebody had the old oakfields likn whir may still be active but not on there sight (going through old bords i have come across links stating sold that are not on their main sight) we may be able to confirm 07R is still for sale.

I like the Duncan Hamiltin car in that respect though i would want the decales reaplied there was also a gulf car that kept is original apperance.

Re: McLaren F1 GTR in Bahrain

Sound reasoning Peloton. I was wondering who would pay the outrageous amount being asked for 07R. It makes much more sense to take another GTR and give it the same look. I am sure if this is the Adrenaline car, it would have cost a lot less to bring it to this spec.

Cabrio, what do you mean, Dubai? From the title of the thread, I thought the car was in Bahrain.

Dubai is one of the Emirates on the Arabian Gulf; it's part of the UAE, or the United Arab Emirates. Bahrain is a separate country, geographically and politically. I am pretty sure they don't share a border either.

The silver Porsche in the same series of pictures bears a current license plate from Bahrain. The white one is a slightly older version. Both of them say Al Bahreen at the top left and the white Porsche's plate says kha-soo-meyun or khas-wa-meen (or something along those lines) on the bottom right. Dunno what it means, probably "private", but it's all definitely Bahrain. Dunno where you're getting Dubai from?

As I am sure most people on here know already, there's another McLaren F1 in Dubai--it's silver (groan) and it belongs to Sheikh Muhammad bin Salayim, a World Rally Champion. Incidentally, all Dubai license plates have the text on the left, or top center.

Alpina, AMG, Ruf -- modifiers of manufactured vehicles. Not manufacturers themselves. Whatever.

The point was not what shade of silver the car was, or who made it versus who modified it and what it should be called now...rather, where its license plate was from. Maybe there's another forum where we can debate such incredibly exciting stuff. If there isn't, surely you can start one, as I am simply dying to discuss this. But can we try not to get our knickers in a twist over such trivialities here? Thanks.

And what happened to Samurai75006?
