Serpentine Belt

Hello to all, I am about to change the serpentine belt on my 2001 jimmy, and have already purchased a gator back belt for it. But i been reading some of the post and found that many have had problems with this belt, can anyone recomend a good replace ment belt or is the gator back belt good?

Re: Serpentine Belt

Yea, get one from the dealer, never heard of a problem caused by them, and they last forever.

Re: Serpentine Belt

Yeah, OEM or a Gates belt that can be picked up at NAPA. I have had one Gatorback belt shred to pieces in just 600 miles. Took what was left back to the shop and got a Gates Micro-V instead, and as far as I know, that car is still running around on it. BTW, Gates is an OE manufacturer for many automotive production cars and trucks...makes sense to go back to the source on them at a local retailer than paying parts counter prices at the dealership.
