Question/discussion/NOT A ARGUMENT!!
Aight i gota question for everybody. My current plans are to get GReddy headers and do a mini-me swap to my stock d16a6 motor. BUT..... i've done some thinkin and im constipating if i should do the complete b16a1 swap. (with trans, axel, ecu, linkage...everything) Im thinkin that if i do the b16 swap it will be a year till i can buy it and drop it in. I know that mid summer i can have atleast a g saved up.
My question is should i just wait a year and dont do nething else to my motor and save for the b16 and put it in with my car bein stock. (besides high flow cat, catback, and intake) I aint tryin to hear any arguing im just lookin for advice. What would be the best way to go considering money and performance??? |

Re: Question/discussion/NOT A ARGUMENT!!
I <3 your threads.
![]() HAHA.. Seriously, it depends where you want to go. If you want decent performance with "stock" reliability, B16 is a nice choice. If you are okay with being slightly faster than most Pontiac 6000s, keep buying boltons for the SOHC. It depends where you want to put your money and what you really want out of your car. EDITED for more info: Its nice to have a fairly quick and basically stock motor that doesn't burn a drop of oil and has plenty of life to go. Room to grow, engine life to do so.

Re: Question/discussion/NOT A ARGUMENT!!
yeah....i messed up...lol. I was tryin to say constiplating (sp) and i checked on spell check and it gave me constipating...awell. i gave everyone i laugh.
But for real. My future plans are to stay n/a. I WANT turbo but i dont forsee me gettin it. My cuz was supposed to talk to her bf about gettin his turbo but nothin ever came out of that. And gettin the money saved up aint i problem. Its just gona take a year. but do you guys think its worth it. Or should i just take 2 g's and put it into the stock motor. Cuz i really dont wana dump money into my motor with 160k on it and have it blow. If i get a b16 wit will have 30-50k on it. What does everybody think the best choice is. For both speed and money?? |

LOUDCRXSi - You should figure out what your long term hp goal is first. Because if you put $ into your stock engine and end up wanting even more power, then you've wasted $ that you can never get back. In that case you should do a motor swap and save up for a turbo. My best advice is to take the time and think about it long and hard. If I didn't lose my job I was going to do a type r swap, I was completely set on doing it. But now that I've had time to think about it more I realized it isn't the best plan for the kind of power I want. Maybe just go with some basic bolt-ons with your stock motor until you figure out exactly what you want to do. |
