1993 blazer...do away with air conditioner compressor

I have a 1993 blazer s-10 4.3 engine. My air conditioner compressor is shot. I am wondering if it is possible to install a belt for engine without a compressor? In other words bypass the pulley altogether or would i need to make modifications.

Re: do away with air conditioner compressor

Check with your dealer. They may have an idler pulley (with new special length belt) listed that takes the place of the compressor and mounting bracket, although it would probably be cheaper to get a compressor out of the salvage yard.
