Please HELP!!!
I had new injectors installed. Now the car is hard to start. I was told one of the new fuel injectors may be bad. I ran the engine then shut it off and took two of the spark plugs out. I could hear a hissing sound through the plug hole in one cylinder and not the other. The hissing sound was in the cylinder that I think has a leaking injector. The hissing sound went away after the car sat for a while and there was a really strong gas smell coming from this cylinder and not the other. Also the car is only hard to start if it has sat for longer than 5 min. Could this mean the injector is leaking??
Any help is appreciated! |

Re: Please HELP!!!
sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Check all your vacuum lines for one that was possibly not re-connected at the time of service

Re: Please HELP!!!
could be the injector. Get a fuel pressure regulator, and hook it up to the fuel rail. Turn the key to the 2nd click, just before crank, and listen for the fuel pump to cut on and off, have a buddy read the fuel pressure. It should initially read I believe (correct me people) 30 to 40psi, and more importantly it should remain with that relatively same amount of pressure for about 15-20 mins without dropping very much. If your pressure gets up to 35ish, and drops rapidly, the pressure is getting bled somewhere. Then you start narrowing it down. I wouldnt jump right to an injector as the cause thoug, it could be a bad regulator, or fuel pump, or even a vacuum leak. You just have to narrow it down. Does the car run fine, and accellerate of when its running? does it stumble at idle? Keep us informed.

Re: Please HELP!!!
Well, I took the injectors out to check for a leak. I was shocked to find that ALL the injectors are leaking fuel through the tips. These injectors are made by Borg Warner and I DONT recommend anyone buy them.
Luckily they have a warranty |
