removing fuel pressure regulator on 1997 Z24

Newbie here.

My wifes car is leaking fuel at the fuel pressure regulator. I figure it probably needs new seals.

I find the Haynes manual to be of no use.

Any tips on removing this? I can't figure out how to get a wrench under the regulator to remove the fuel return line from the regulator. The regulator is betweem the end of the fuel rail and the timing chain housing.

Any tips would be appreciated.

2.4 right?...you have to take the fuel rail off(you can leave fuel line hooked up) . just releive pressure in system, unbolt two bolts ( 12mm) holding the rail on(under rail),unbolt 10mm bolt holding lines in place on driver side of head, and pull up on rail, being careful not to loose the o-rings from the injectors. when you get that off, then there is a "star" bolt holding a clip that holds the fuel line into the bottom of the regulator, take that bolt out and the line will pull out,and you can get the reg. off. just remember to put a little oil on the o-rings when reinstalling them.

Thanks godenm!!!

Yes 2.4L. Of course the Haynes manual says "1998 and later" for having to remove the fuel rail and mine's a 1997, but I had a feeling this was wrong.

Thanks for the good info!
