I have oil with a faint smell of gas in my # 1 spark plug only. My car tries to start but act like it's not getting any gas but it is and still wont start. I have checked the fuel pump, fuel filter, distributor cap, rotor and the ignition coil and they are all fine. Thats when I decided to check my wires and plugs and found the oil. It's only in the # 1 spark plug. Anyone have any advice on how i fix this problem?

Re: 97 Nissan Altima with oil in spark plug
Was your car leaning to one side. if so this may have caused the problem. If not then you might actually have a bad half seal in the engine block.

All you have to do is buy the "graumet", it costs 10 bucks from Nissan. It comes with the four seals... i am positive they wont only sell you the first seal.... i hope that helps....
by the way, you should go ahead and change the valve cover seal too.. -G-
