anyone have any personal reviews on ebay cold air intakes? i've heard that water can get up in there and ruin your engine, no? also is it worth it to get the cold air intake or is it just as effective to get an intake w/o the tube? plust theres the ebay factor like not getting all the parts, etc. im getting an intake just not sure what kind and how cheap. thanks.

Re: ebay cold air intakes
I have a Ebay CAI. I did actually take in water but the car stalled before any damage was done because water in the MAS. I actually have it for sale now listed on 3si. I want $30 shipped. All you would need is four nuts and bolts to bolt the intake adapter to the MAS and maybe a few clamps. The filter will come with it but I recommend getting a new one for like $25 from Advance. Let me know if you are interested.

For a decent CAI to take in enough water to hurt the engine, it would basically ahve to be submerged in water... and at that point, you have worse problems than just water in the intake. Most people I've heard of that have gotten CAIs off ebay have been fairly satisfied. Personally, I'd say get a normal open intake then get an intake wall from Supermac http://www.ultimateperformanceacc.com/ . He's actually done tests showing that the wall lowers temps around the intake. So near the same effect of a CAI without the hassle of piping and relocating the intake and no worries of water.

Re: ebay cold air intakes
Get an ebay intake, all intakes on NA cars are the same, good for 3-5hp, 15-20 is BS. Get the ebay one for $30, as it is the same thing you are getting if you bought the $200 name brand one. If you are concerned about filtration, get a K&N filter and slap it on the ebay pipe.
