Engine Power Loss

Hey...my friend and I really need some help with this one...

My frinds got a 94 Camaro, not a Z28. About 6 months ago the gaskets blew and he had to replace them. Starting 3 months ago whenever he puts the pedal to the floor, it goes fine until it hits 4,000 RPM and it just seems so do a sputtery rev without gaining any speed. I suggested replacing the plugs thinking that a cylinder wasnt fireing, and this eased the problem somewhat and that was 2 weeks ago now it doesnt suptter AS bad but still just kinda revs and gives no power at 4,000 RPM. Whats the deal with this? And its an automatic.

with blown head gaskets, you could be looking at several problems, burnt or bent valves, piston blowby, you could have caused damage to the ignition system. did you also replace the plug wires when you did the plugs?

Yeah we replaced the wires too. They were in pretty bad shape. Is the car even worth fixing?

i would reccomend doing a compression and leakdown test to check the condition of your valves before you decide its not worth fixing.

Okay Ill do that first thing. If its not the valves then is it something with this pistons then cause after the spark plug change that was my first guess but I wasnt for sure.
