300D Transmission
I have a 1983 300D which I recently did a diesel purge on, after the purge the transmission started to slip and then stopped going forward.
This happened immediately after the purge and I can’t believe it is a transmission problem. I have received some messages that it may be a vacuum problem. Any ideas? |

From what I understand (I have an '84 300SD) the tranny shifts are closely controlled through linkage position. There is no "computer" to shift. Likely, you have disturbed something in the linkage or as you suggest, a vaccum line.

I had some weird stuff happen on my 300CD about 2 months after overhauling the trans, it would jump back and forth between gears, slip and not shift out of gear sometimes. I got all pissed thinking i was going to have to pull the trans out again, but it turned out to be my boost regulating valve was clogged (located behind the brake booster on the firewall). bypass the valve and see if its any better. |
