NSS on a '88?
Is there a NSS on my '88 Cherokee? Is it the same switch that prevents me from shifting to drive without first pressing on the brake peddle?
If so, where is it? I have the 6 cyl in line 4.0L engine. |

Re: NSS on a '88?
I Have an 88 cherokee myself. The nss= neutral safety switch does not lock out the brake pedal- thats a brake interlock that was installed by recall, mine don't have it. The neutral safty switch can cause backup lights not to work, and no cranking- not sure what your problem is but for as to where it is- try this link:

Not the same. The Neutral Safety switch prevents you from engaging the starter unless you're in neutral or park. The other switch prevents you from moving the shifter out of park unless you depress the brake pedal.
The NSS is located on the transmission. Here are some details: http://www.cherokee-jeep.com/1-2swremov.htm Last edited by Saudade; 10-13-2004 at 11:22 PM. |
