does anyone know how to do a spring-over conv. on a CJ7. the rear shouldn't be much trouble it's the front i'm worried about. the steering is what's my main question will the tie rod and/ or drag link hit the springs during compression, I have a drop pitman arm on it to go along with the about six inches of lift on it (spring-under) already. i have stock yj springs to put on with spring-over. any suggestions, comments will be greatly appreciated. thank you God bless you

I did a spring over conversion on a cj5 about 8 years ago with no problems at all. It initally had about 4" of lift before the conversion. One thing you might want to consider is rotating the axles a little before re-welding the perches back on to eliminate some of the driveshaft angle that you will get with the added 6+ inches you will gain from it, otherwise you will chew through u-joints faster than you can put them in! Have fun, it's pretty easy, especially if you can just torch off the old ones and weld new ones on. a long afternoon and you've got yourself a free liftkit. |
