Keyless Entry Remote Programming.

Hey, would anyone happen to know if the numbers on the programming module under the drivers seat and the numbers on the remote have to match excactly in order to program the remote ? I have a 1995 Pathfinder with the keyless entry option, but the owner had lost the remotes so I found one on ebay. But I have been having trouble trying to program the remote. I have confirmed the remote is good, and sending a signal. The numbers on both the programming module and the remote match with the exception of the center letters, which are different. I went to a dealership but they were clueless and no help. Any advice would be tremendously appreciated and welcome, thanks.

Re: Keyless Entry Remote Programming.

I don't know about the numbers, but I bought mine on eBay also, and the best, simplest instructions I found were on a forum. I quote:

There is a box under the driver's seat. It is difficult to get a really good view of the box, even with the seat all of the way forward. On the top of the box is a sticker over a small hole. Inside the box, directly under that hole, is a button (about 1 cm square). I have had to reset my remote a few times over the years, and as I best remember it is something like this:

1. Turn the Alarm ON. (My switch is on center consol/arm rest.)

2. Put the key in the ignition and turn to ON. (May not be necessary.)

3. Slide/move driver's seat all the way forward.

(3a. I sit in the back seat, close and lock the doors.)

4. Push and HOLD the button inside the alarm box under seat.

(4a. You have to hold the button for awhile, 30-40 seconds(?).

5. When the alarm/buzzer starts beeping inside the vehicle, you can let off the button under the seat and push the button on the remote until you hear a confirmation from the alarm/buzzer.
