Tonight I witnessed why street racing is so illegal

So tonight I'm on my way home when I see a group of 5 or so 4th gens and a 5th gen or two. So I decide to follow. I'm driving my friends vr6 gti at the moment, since I just crashed my 89 si, and my new 90 si isnt street legal yet.

So I catch up to the pack to check out the cars. I see the blue hatch that i've seen many times at the meets we have in town, kids has a b17 in it, I know its fast, hes leading the pack. A ford station wagon and a dodge neon are riding door to door, holding back the pack on purpose, im in the right lane behind the ford, and the b17 hatch is in the left. I'm trying to be polite to the ford driver ahead of me even though I have a honda up on my ass. I then notice the b17 hatch start flashing his high beams at the neon in front of him, I'm at the rear bumper of the b17 at the moment, trying not to ride the ass of the ford. I have hondas all around me rolling into vtec trying to pull on me. I let them do what they want, I'm not trying to get into an accident. The ford starts to slow down a bit and there is barley a car length between the fords front bumper and the neons rear bumper. All of a sudden I hear the b17 hatch drop a gear and the dumb bastard cuts in front of the ford and then right back in front of the neon, he almost lost it into the cement barrier, or atleast thats what it looked like. I'm thinking, "wow, that is the dumbest move I've ever seen someone pull." Then to my amazement, another red fourth gen pulls past me and does the exact same thing, barely making it through. And then ANOTHER red hatch, this time a 5th gen does the same as the last two idiots.

All of a sudden I see a state trooper car parked on the side of the road, a horrible spot for a car to be parked. I have no clue if a cop was inside it, it had no lights on or anything. I give a thumbs down for the idiot cop who left his patrol car there. After seeing this, everyone pulls off onto the first exit, I guess the cop car scared everyone. I'm the only one who stays on the main road, praying to god that I don't get singled out, I wasn't even doing anything wrong.

Now I'll admit that I do street race, but NEVER EVER have a done anything like I saw tonight, and I never will either. This is the first time that I've actually shaken my head at fellow honda owners. The reason I posted this story is just to show everyone once again why the police give some of us such a hard time.

All you new drivers out there who think you can drive, you probably cant. Please, don't think that because you can put your pedal to the floor and drive fast means that you can handle any situation. And even if you can handle it, the person you are cutting off may not be able to handle it. You could scare them and send them into a wall, or another car.

Always, ALWAYS remember, a car IS a LETHAL weapon and should be handled with great care at all times.

I couldn't pass anyone, my timing belt tensioner would just fuck up and I'd put a whole in my pistons.

yes it is a shame that ppls do drive like that, but there isn't much you can do about it

I know there isnt much that you can do. But I atleast want to try to show the younger kids just getting their license that this isnt how you should drive, nor is it cool to drive like this. Its just plain stupid and wreckless.

yup, sure is! i used 2 drive like that and since have calmed down a bit, yes i do let it get up there in first and 2nd alot and i do speed but i dont do alot of shit like cutting ppl off anymore,and by speeding i mean like 40 over on the highway, and maybe 20 - 25 over in town and the limit by housing areas and stuff

U know it really sucks that u can't go watch a street race anymore without gettin a fine of over $1,000. I've never been to a full fledge get together like that but all due respect, it should be left to the dragstrip.

Im not condining what he did, BUT things can at times look worse. I know some people on here who have seen my mate Brad drive and for the first 20 mins I was getting sooooo many msg's on my phone asking if he had any idea, until they realised he was technically brilliant and the "dangerous" looking shit was him just taking it easy, and within his limits by a long shot.
