Knock Sensor

Question about the knock sensor: What is the best way to fix it? Having looked at a few different sites, Sport Compact Car Web seems to sum it up pretty well, but still gives 2 options: Unplug the sensor and short the pins, or relocate it(they recommend wrapping it in a towel?!). Which is the best solution and why?

I'm tempted to unplug it, just so it will be easier to put back in case I need to get warranty service, but it seems like that would make it more likely to need warranty service
