Rims For Black P11 G20...any suggestions?
I'm looking for rims. I want 18"s. I have a black 2002 G20.
Any suggestions? Oh what is the maximum size I can put on my car...I was really interested in these 18 X 8 s. |

yeh, before anything, lower your car first.

I would suggest you stick with 17" wheels. A few of the people on this board have tried 18's and are not happy with them. The SR20DE is not a powerhouse in stock form. The bigger and heavier your wheels are, the slower you're going to go. Most of the people in this forum are running 17x7's with 205/40's or 215/40's. Take a look at the chart on g20.net and you can get an idea of how the different wheel/tire sizes will affect your gearing and speedometer error. Also remember that the lower profile you get, the less rubber there is to cushion the rim against potholes.

yeh I was thinking of getting 17 X7 s But I don't know ... alot of the 17s I saw on this forum seem to be too small for the car or something it just doesn't look too proportionate to me.
But ... You do have a point about the power and the speedometer error. I'll consider 17s. Thanx for the input. |

if you get 17's with low-profile (slim) tires, your wheels will look big. The bigger your tires are, the smaller your rims will look, its a fact

The reason that *some* cars with 17's look funny is because they are not lowered (like mine). The larger wheel and smaller tire creates an optical illusion which makes the wheel well look larger. As long as you properly lower your car, the 17's will look right at home.

Are you guys implying that if I drop the TEIN NA to the second lowest setting, a 215/40/18 will not likely going to fit? And as such, there will be some rubber rubbing?

I know that when I have the TEIN's on the lowest setting 1.9' - and I have 17's (215/40) - there is no rubbing. But not sure about 18's - .. you'd have to test it out when you get your TEIN's.

When i had my 18X7 215/45/18 i had to roll the inside lip of the back guards in too stop the rub when going over potholes etc.
Was on a 40mm drop alround. Have now gone to 17's and have a better ride with no rub.

you can probably get away with 215/40/18's as long as you keep your offset at 45-43mm. a lot of guys use 40mm and that's just too freakin' sticking out from the front fender for my taste. even with 45mm offset 215/45/17's i think the front tire is too far outward. but hey, i can always pop on a offset spacer for the rear, I guess to balance it out.
![]() if you're planning to street race and stuff, stick with your factory wheels, lower your ride and get stickier tires.

If you go with an 18x7 or 18x7.5 you can fit just fine in there with one of these tires sizes... 215/35/18 (super small sidewall, makes your overall tire diameter smaller than stock) 215/40/18 (your best bet for 18x7) 225/35/18 (your best bet for 18x7.5) The reason I had rubbing here and there is because I ran a very big tire size (225/40/18). I originally had 215/35/18's on there and ended up blowing 2 of them when I hit a huge pothole. I wasted to $500 wheels so I decided to go with a large tire to handle all the bumps around here. The stock outside diameter of our tires is about 24.2", the tires I'm running have an overall diameter of 25.1". You can see this adds about 1" to the diameter. This affects you in two ways. First it raises your ride by 1/2" and second, it puts your tire an extra 1/2" closer to the fender. Giving up an extra 1/2" of travel is why I got some rubbing. This is the same case w/ Primeraman's 215/45/18's. People always think about it as "what size wheel can I fit", when it should be "what size tire can I fit?" ...one last thing, dont go over 7.5" wide |
