Hey I have a 71 GMC truck and I was timing it today. The problem happened when I was turning the distributor to adjust the timing. I adjusted a little to far and the engine turned off. I started again and I got it to where I wanted it and then I turned off the engine with the key. I went to start it up again and when I put the key in the ignition and turned nothing happened...as in nothing at all, no noise nothing, silence. I thought maybe perhaps the battery was dead, well I was wrong it was fully charged, my lights worked and windshield wipers, basically everything but the engine. I even charged the battery for a half hour just to be sure, still nothing . So I'm in a real need for assistance. I'm thinking something is fouled up with the starter but I don't get how it would work one sec and then not the next. Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks

Re: I got a problem...could really use some help
Check the wires on your starter solenoid to make sure they are not broken, and are not loose. if that looks ok i would use a screw driver or and old battery cable and cross the big post on the solenoid to the little one. if you get a response from this its most likely your solenoid or ign switch. things sometimes have a way of going bad at the oddest times. good luck

Re: I got a problem...could really use some help
Alright well I was looking at it and the ignition switch on the solenoid was all chewed but(bad wiring job by somebody) I fixed still no working engine. I tryed your screw driver deal and scared the hell out of myself when a big ol fireworks show went off in my face, lol. So whats that mean, is my solenoid bad or good? Any ideas on what it could be now? Thanks for the help
